NUMANA (part II): How to sun for free (or how to spend a lot of money really fast)

ON ONE HAND, Corallo’s Seaside Village is a luxurious beach resort with palm trees, a volleyball court, whirlpools, umbrellas and chairs, multiple restaurants, outdoor seating, numerous cabana’s, a gelato stand, foosball tables, kayaks, several children’s pools and a wide, beautiful pebble beach.

You could spend days there, soaking in the sun and entertaining yourself with the various amenities.

On the other hand, everything at Corallo’s costs money, even simply sitting on a chair on the beach. An umbrella and a seat by the Adriatic Sea will run you 15 Euro for the day. Kayaks can be rented for 10 Euro per hour. Using the changing room will cost you 5 Euro.

Unlike back in the United States, most Italian beaches are operated by private businesses that charge for beach use. At Corallo’s, you even have to pay for use of their ping pong table.

To skirt the rules, you can always park your towel on the sliver of land closest to the water. Most Italian beaches consider that space communal and therefore, free.

And that way, you can still get drinks at the bar and use their bathroom.
